Pointe

The Elegance and Strength of Classical Ballet

Pointe is a timeless and challenging form of ballet that embodies grace, strength, and precision. Designed for advanced dancers with a strong foundation in ballet, our Pointe classes focus on the art of dancing en pointe, where dancers perform on the tips of their toes. This beautiful and demanding technique requires dedication, discipline, and careful instruction to ensure safety and success.

At Mountain Valley Elite Dance Studio, our Pointe program emphasizes proper technique, injury prevention, and artistic expression, helping dancers reach new heights—literally and figuratively.

Pointe at Mountain Valley Elite

Pointe work is a beautiful and challenging milestone in a ballet dancer's journey, requiring strength, dedication and proper preparation. At Mountain Valley Elite Dance Company, safety and technique are our top priorities. To enroll in our pointe class, students must be at least 12 years old, have at least four semesters of previous ballet or pre pointe experience and demonstrate strong ballet technique, including proper alignment, ankle strength and core stability. Pointe students must also be approved by the instructor before beginning, as readiness varies for each dancer.

Our Pointe classes include:

  • Foundational Technique: Master the fundamentals of pointe work, including proper alignment, balance, and placement.

  • Strength and Conditioning: Build the foot, ankle, and core strength required for pointe work through targeted exercises.

  • Barre and Center Work: Develop technique through structured barre exercises and center-floor combinations.

  • Artistic Expression: Bring grace and emotion to your movements, elevating your performance artistry.

Safety is our priority. Dancers are only allowed to begin Pointe training with approval from their ballet instructor, ensuring they have the strength and technique necessary to dance safely en pointe.

What You’ll Need

To participate in Pointe, you’ll need:

  • Pointe Shoes: Students will need to be professionally fitted for pointe shoes to ensure safety and prevent injury. We have partnered with a company out of Colorado Springs for the students to be fitted through.

  • Ballet Attire: A leotard, tights, and optional ballet skirt for ease of movement and adherence to studio dress code.

  • Hair Secured: A neat bun or similar style to keep hair out of your face during class.

  • Readiness to Learn: A positive mindset and dedication to mastering this advanced technique.

Pointe offers a unique opportunity for dancers to:

  • Enhance Technical Precision: Develop greater control, balance, and finesse.

  • Achieve Artistic Growth: Expand your ability to express emotions and tell stories through dance.

  • Challenge Yourself: Push the limits of your skills in a supportive, professional environment.

Pointe is a rewarding journey that requires patience, determination, and a love for ballet.
