FAQs

What are the class fees?

For the first semester, we've designed a fee structure that reflects a more recreational approach to make dance accessible to all families. Here's a breakdown of how it will work:

Tuition Based on Hours

  • Tuition is calculated based on the total hours of classes taken per week. This allows flexibility for families, whether your student is taking one class or several.

Family Discounts

  • To support families with multiple students enrolled, we offer a family discount. These discounts apply to siblings taking classes and help make dance more affordable for everyone.

Payment Plans

  • We understand that managing tuition costs can be a challenge, so we're offering payment plan options to spread out the cost over time. Please log in to your Jack Rabbit parent portal to set up a monthly payment plan option.

What is the time commitment?

Mountain Valley Elite Dance Company strives for a commitment to Excellence. At Mountain Valley Elite Dance Company, we believe that consistent attendance is key to your student's growth and success. When you enroll in classes, you are not only reserving a space for your student but also committing to their development as a dancer.

Class Attendance

We encourage all dancers to attend every class for which they are enrolled. Regular attendance ensures your student receives the full benefit of their training and helps maintain the continuity of instruction, choreography and group dynamics.

  • Make up classes are available for missed sessions and can be scheduled at a time that works for you.

  • For those seeking additional instruction, private lessons are also an option to help your dancer catch up or refine specific skills.

Life Happens - We Understand

We recognize that unforeseen circumstances, such as illness or family emergencies, may occasionally prevent attendance. To support our families we offer make-up classes to ensure your dancer doesn't fall behind.

Cancellation policy

We understand circumstances can change and sometimes families may need to adjust their commitments. To ensure clarity and fairness we have outlined the following cancellation policy for tuition refunds:

Cancellation Deadline

  • Cancellations must be made before the 5th of each month to qualify for a full refund of that month's tuition.

  • Any cancellations made on or after the 5th will not be eligible for a refund, as tuition fees secure your student's spot and support studio operations.

Notifications Process

  • Cancellations must be brought to the attention of the studio owner, Brittney Van Treese, in a timely manner.

  • To cancel, please contact Brittney directly via email or phone, providing the student's name and the reason for cancellation.

Refunds

  • Refunds for cancellations made before the 5th will be processed promptly. Please allow a few business days for the refund to reflect in your account.

How do I know if my child is ready for an advanced class?

Determining whether your child is ready to take the next step into advanced dance classes can be an exciting and important decision. At Mountain Valley Elite Dance Company, we want to ensure that each dancer is placed in a level where they feel challenged, confident, and supported. Here are some key indicators that your child may be ready for advanced training:

1. Strong Technical Foundation

  • Advanced classes require a solid understanding of basic dance techniques and terminology. If your child has mastered foundational skills and demonstrates consistency in their technique, they may be ready for a more rigorous level.

2. Commitment to Growth

  • Advanced classes often come with higher expectations for attendance, focus, and practice outside of class. If your child shows a genuine commitment to improving and enjoys dedicating time to their craft, this is a strong sign they’re ready to move forward.

3. Passion for Dance

  • Advanced classes are designed for dancers who truly love the art form and want to push themselves to new heights. If your child is asking for more challenging choreography or expressing a desire to perform at a higher level, they’re likely ready for the next step.

4. Ability to Handle Feedback

  • In advanced classes, constructive feedback is an essential part of growth. If your child can take corrections gracefully and use them to improve, they’re demonstrating the maturity needed for an advanced class setting.

5. Physical Readiness

  • Advanced classes can be more physically demanding, requiring strength, flexibility, and endurance. If your child is showing signs of readiness for these physical challenges and is injury-free, they may be prepared to progress.

6. Teacher Recommendation

  • Our instructors are here to guide you and your child through this decision. Often, a teacher’s recommendation is a great way to confirm readiness for advanced classes, as they can assess your dancer’s skills, work ethic, and readiness for new challenges.

Next Steps

If you’re wondering about your child’s readiness for advanced classes, we recommend scheduling a conversation with one of our instructors or having your child attend an evaluation class. This will allow us to determine the best placement to ensure they continue to thrive and grow as a dancer.

Can we take classes but not take part in recitals?

At Mountain Valley Elite Dance Company, we understand that every dancer has different goals and interests. While our annual recital is a highlight of the year and a wonderful opportunity for dancers to showcase their hard work and talent, participation is entirely optional.

Class-Only Option

If your dancer prefers to take classes without performing in the recital, that’s absolutely okay! Our classes are designed to provide a strong foundation in technique, skill development, and creative expression, whether or not a student chooses to participate in performances.

Why Choose Class-Only?

  • Some students may simply want to learn and grow in dance without the added commitment of a performance.

  • Families may prefer to focus on the learning experience without the additional cost or time associated with recital preparation.

Flexible for Every Dancer

Whether your dancer is preparing for the stage or just enjoying the joy of movement, we’re here to support their journey. If you decide later in the semester that you’d like to join the recital, we’ll do our best to accommodate you, depending on costume and choreography timelines.

Do you offer private lessons?

At Mountain Valley Elite Dance Company, we’re proud to offer private lessons for dancers who want personalized instruction to enhance their skills, prepare for auditions, or catch up on missed material.

Why Choose Private Lessons?

Private lessons are an excellent option for dancers who:

  • Want focused, one-on-one instruction to refine technique.

  • Need extra help mastering specific skills or choreography.

  • Are preparing for performances, competitions, or auditions.

  • Would like to make up for missed classes with individual attention.

Scheduling Private Lessons

All private lessons must be scheduled separately through our Jackrabbit Parent Portal. This ensures a seamless booking process and allows you to choose a time that works best for your schedule.
